The New Jersey State Library has three bureaus: the Library Development Bureau (LDB), the NJ State Library Talking Book & Braille Center (TBBC) and the State Library Information Center (SLIC). The State Library connects people with information through its service to libraries, government and people with special needs.

JerseyCat is New Jersey's statewide virtual catalog and interlibrary loan system. It is provided to all libraries within the State of New Jersey by the New Jersey State Library and the Regional Library Coopertives. There is no charge to the local library for the service. It provides all New Jersey residents and library staff with real-time searching capabilities for New Jersey's Z39.50 compliant library catalog.

LearningExpress Job & Career Accelerator™ provides personalized, step-by-step job search assistance—from exploring and matching suitable occupations from over 1,000 detailed occupation profiles to finding available jobs from a database of over 5 million up-to-date job postings.

Making eContent available in libraries is increasingly challenging. It is difficult for the public to understand why their local library does not have the eBook they want to read, or why they have so few copies. To assist libraries in addressing these questions the New Jersey Library Association (NJLA) is pleased to announce When it Comes to eBooks, there's NOT eNOUGH! This public awareness campaign, based on a similar campaign begun by the Pikes Peak Library District in Colorado, is focused on explaining to the public why it is difficult and costly for libraries to provide eContent.

We will be extending our hours for 2 weeks in June
Our hours will be as follows:

Monday June 4 - Thursday June 7 9 AM - 9 PM
Monday June 11 - Thursday June14 9 AM - 9 PM

Friday and Saturday hours remain the same: 9 AM - 5 PM

Digital Memory Media Coversion Services

Do you have old 8 mm and 16 mm movies, VHS tapes, photos, albums that you would like to better preserve? Then come to the Carteret Public Library on Thursday, June 7th from 4:30 pm to7:30 pm, to save these precious memories. Innovative Document Imaging LLC (IDI) will provide services to digitally convert your material into DVD’s. Twenty percent of the proceeds will benefit the library!

Middlesex County College CARE

Middlesex County College has a new program called CARE. The Center for Adults Returning to Education. CARE is a grant program that helps adult students in their return to college to complete an Associate's Degree.
